Salinas Sales

Mike Chasen
I was born in San Jose, CA. but raised in Aptos (South of Santa Cruz). After high school, I reluctantly dragged my body off the beach and enrolled at Cal Poly with high aspirations of becoming a doctor. I ended up graduating with a B.S. degree in Agricultural Business Management in 1992. Immediately after graduation, the opportunity presented itself to move to Mexico and work in vegetable production so off I went. I learned more that year than I would have ever expected, but felt the ever pressing need to get into sales. I moved back to the states and embarked on my new path of produce brokering which later transitioned to working for a shipper here in Salinas. After a number of years in the grower shipper world, I decided to get back into buying and moved to San Francisco to work for a well respected brokerage firm.

I was born and raised in Salinas, CA, where I have been around the produce industry for about 18 years. I started my produce career with River Ranch in 1992, while attending Salinas High School. I worked as a loader, truck appointments, and then the shipping and receiving office. Before going away to Arizona State University I got my first taste of the Sales office as a coordinator for River Ranch where I first met Mike Chasen. While at ASU I worked on a melon farm among other things, shipping and receiving product. I returned to California were I graduated from San Jose State University and then returned to produce a few years later. I started at Church Brothers in 2005 working Truck Appointments and was promoted to sales within a year to handle foodservice accounts. When Custom Produce Sales in September of 2006 presented me with an opportunity to join the team, I jumped at the opportunity

I was born in Carmel, Ca. and raised in the Salinas Valley. After graduating from Salinas High School I accepted a job with Diamond Produce and traveled to all major Lettuce growing regions where I ran day to day shipping operations. 1 year later I joined Fresh Networks Quality Assurance staff and traveled the next 6 years. Wanting to further my produce career into sales, I accepted a position with Hapco Farms where I spent the next 11 years servicing Eastern chain stores until a new opportunity opened up to me here with Custom Produce Sales. When I’m away from work I enjoy spending time with my family, cycling, and watching sports.

I was born in Oakland, CA and raised in San Jose, CA. After graduating from Yerba Buena High School I attended De Anza College in Cupertino, CA where I received my 2 year Associates degree. After graduation I raced bicycle motocross professionally for about 6 years. Due to injuries I had to take a break from racing and became a Realtor with Century 21 Beachside Realtors for 6 years in Long Beach, Ca. I moved back to the Bay Area where I was introduced to the produce industry by Custom Produce Sales. I worked as a sales coordinator for 2 years to gain experience in produce and then I was given the opportunity to work in sales. On my spare time I like to spend time with my family, race my BMX bike, and real estate sales.
